Oh She Struggles too?

I was reading my email earlier and there’s this amazing blogger who sends emails out about tips on what to write about on your blog page. As I was reading the tips and why we may get discouraged sometimes about our page, I was checking off everything that I have felt about my page at one point. I continued to read and realized that at times I still feel like I want to give up when I find myself not knowing what to write. You would think that since this is a lifestyle blog that I just have it all figured out, or that it should be so simple to write. Well, with me being this wonderful and honest young woman, I’m just going to let you guys know that I don’t have everything all figured out. I struggle with finding topics to write sometimes, I struggle with being consistent with my posting schedule, I struggle with feeling like my content isn’t the best it could be.. I just struggle. Just because I struggle, it doesn’t mean that I should sit there and complain and cry about it. That will take me nowhere. I ask myself “what are you going to do about?” I ask myself this question because it’s so important to acknowledge what the problem is and how you can find solutions. Of course there are some things that we just cannot control, but when we can control them, we have to stop feeling so bad about ourselves and MOVE. So with that being said, today I made sure that I wrote down what I need to work on. I believe I am always bringing up how we are not perfect human beings. We all struggle in life. We have to make certain that we are honest with ourselves and take responsibility whenever we are the cause of our problems!

Am I Regretting these Summer classes?

Usually for Summer, it’s nice to take a break from classes. This Summer I decided to take classes because I wanted to get my last math class over with and take some electives. Since I’m doing this, I won’t have to take a lot of classes during fall semester (my last semester of prereqs!) So, to answer the title of this post, I don’t regret taking classes this Summer at all. Are the classes time consuming? Yes of course, but I love to keep busy truthfully. I also don’t have any regrets in life. I know saying I don’t have any regrets in life sounds so cliche, but it’s true. Everything literally happens for a reason, whether it be something small or big! I’m glad I made this decision and even if it seems so small, it is something pretty big for me. My grades are looking great so far, I’m getting my assignments done on time like the usual, and though some days I feel like procrastinating on my assignments I still get them done. I know this will all be worth it, which is another reason I don’t give up. I’ll stop here because I’m going to read for a few and then get some rest for a long day tomorrow. I appreciate you guys, I love you, and remember to keep going no matter what!

A Book That is Feeding my Mind

I just wanted to share this book I purchased about a month ago that one of my favorite pastors wrote. I love to read and get fed wisdom and if you follow pastor Michael on YouTube and Instagram, you could probably agree that he is very wise. This book is for people who are single, dating, engaged, married, all of that. I have not finished reading it yet, but all of the pages I have read so far have been teaching me so much. I highly recommend this book and when I finish it, I will definitely write another review! You can purchase it on amazon. I would love to share what it’s about, but I think you guys should see for yourselves, you will not be disappointed. For me to not even be done with the book yet and I am giving such positive feedback says a lot. I am so excited for this next chapter I am about to read because the topic is something that I have been praying about. Let me know if you guys decide to purchase it! I would love to talk about it with you. I will be posting on Monday night again, either before 9 p.m. or after like I have been doing lately. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend whether you are going to just relax or be productive. Sending blessings and positive energy always.

One of My Favorite Verses

This is one of my favorite verses. The first photo is written in ESV (English standard version) and I wrote it on an index card in NKJV (New King James Version). Every day that I wake up, I read the index card. It’s a great reminder to not worry, because He is forever there for me. If I’m feeling a little low throughout the day I repeat it out loud or in my head. This has helped me tremendously. I’ve been pushing myself to read the Bible more as well. I read my devotionals and I have the Bible app, but there’s nothing like picking up the book itself and reading it. My walk with God has not been easy and it isn’t supposed to be, but I wouldn’t trade this for anything. He is my best friend and the love that I have for Him is so indescribable. I want to continue to do the best that I can to become more like Him. He is in the midst of me.. I shall NOT be moved.

Writer’s Block

So umm… I’m just going to be honest with you all right now. I am going to probably be rambling. I just wrote TWO paragraphs and decided to erase it because I thought it was not “worth sharing.” I will try again tomorrow I suppose. I have no idea why my mind is all over the place at the moment guys, which is why I am literally just typing away. I was trying to get into a specific topic, but I kept saying “nah, they are not going to be interested in this.” Well technically I don’t have writer’s block because I am writing right now, so crazy right? I don’t know how that works, but anyway that’s what’s going on with me. My goal is to always be transparent on here. I want to continue to share my great days and my not so great days. Today was just one of those days, but I am speaking it into existence that tomorrow will be a better writing day. Also if you all would like to send me some topics that you would be interested in, feel free to! I would honestly love that. Again, I appreciate all of the love and support. I appreciate all who haven’t given up on me. I see you, and I thank you!

Black is so beautiful

I am a black queen and literally NO ONE could take that from me. I thank God for creating me this way. Just as I am proud to be a Latina Queen, I am proud to be a Black Queen as well! My heart is heavy during these times because my people have had to go through this pain for so long. This is not something new at all and I have been praying that people truly see that black lives matter! We shouldn’t have to be treated differently for the color of our skin. This is what you get.. this is ME. I am proud to be Black and I am proud that I was able to stand up for myself and others the other day. I am not one to argue on social media, I try my best to avoid social media as much as I can, but I had to speak up when I saw ignorance. It’s so difficult being Christian while this is going on because my blood boils and I find myself getting angry and wanting to step out of character. It’s like can I please curse some of these people out? (I don’t even curse guys).. then I hear God speaking to me saying that it wouldn’t be right to do that. It’s okay to speak up, but I will not step out of my character because I do serve an amazing God who will win this battle. I know this is all in His control. I was able to attend a peaceful protest Monday afternoon, everyone came together with respect and love. It was very moving and I felt proud to shout for the ones who are no longer here and cannot speak up for themselves. I later went to bible study Monday night and we were talking about BLM. I needed to hear those words that were shared.

To my Black Queens and Kings, you are all beautiful. We are all more than enough and don’t think that because you serve God you are not allowed to speak up for our people. Don’t think that you have to just stay silent and not take any action such as signing petitions, sending out emails, donating, etc. God wants us to give as much as we can. He wants us to take action, don’t forget to think of Him while this is going on. Do not forget that He is still an awesome God who deserves praise no matter how bad the storm is. He also loves our beautiful skin, don’t you forget that. We have to learn to respect each other, come together, and stop thinking that it’s white vs. black. It is everyone vs. racism and inequality! #BLM #BLACKISBEAUTIFUL #NOTATHREAT

My Angel

I’ve been thinking about my Grandfather from my Father’s side a lot lately. I miss his strong accent, his smile, how he would call my sisters and I his “babies”, his warm hugs, and so much more. One of the biggest things I will always remember is the love he had for God. He went to the Orlando hospital in October 2019, so my family and I went to go visit him. He ended up being okay, but they were doing several tests and just watching over him. They then transferred him back to Palm Bay to a rehabilitation & healthcare center. Something else occurred so he had to go to the hospital again, but in Palm Bay. He was going back and forth from the rehab to the hospital up until February of this year. He became very down and exhausted. He just wanted to be in his house. Though he was exhausted, he still kept the faith and loved God nonstop. Unfortunately on February 29th of this year he went to his new home. There was not much that the doctors could do anymore. It was devastating because he never got to go back to his home, or sit in his favorite chair again. He kept saying he wanted to go home as in be in his house again, but as time passed he meant heaven. He knew he was going to be okay, he knew that we were going to be okay as well, and that’s what finally gave him his peace. I think about the time he passed away and God knew exactly what he was doing. We were fortunate enough to be there for him before it was his time. We were able to see him on his birthday in November at the rehab (boy was he so happy!) See, since Covid-19.. no one was, and I believe still are not allowed to visit the rehab centers because the elderly are high risk. I am blessed that we had the opportunity to visit him several times before the pandemic became worse. Even though things may not make sense as they are happening, God does not make any mistakes.

Losing a loved one is not easy whatsoever, especially when you have to watch them on a machine. I feel at peace knowing that he is at peace though. He will forever be my Grandpa, my dawg, my angel, my everything. I will always remember the conversations we had and the laughs we shared. I certainly will never forget those beautiful grey eyes of his either. He has been on my mind heavy, so I felt that I should share this with you all. I hope he is proud of the woman I am becoming, because I have grown tremendously in just a few months since he passed. He won’t be able to come to my college graduation in December, come to my wedding in the future, or meet my future children, but he will forever be watching over me and my little family. Here are a few pictures of my Grandpa, I hope you all enjoy!

Miss those eyes!

I’ve been oil cleansing wrong!! (New information learned from an Esthetician)

I did a post about my skincare routine about two weeks ago and yesterday I learned that I have not been using my oil cleanser properly. We are not supposed to overdo oil cleansing. I mentioned that I oil cleanse every other night and it’s only supposed to be ONCE a week guys. This makes so much sense to me now because I didn’t use my oil cleanser at all last week and my skin improved. Thankfully, tonight is the only day this week that I oil cleansed. I will update you guys on my skin again in about two weeks. My skin is also still trying to heal from the huge breakout I mentioned that I went through. I recently just looked at a video and picture of my skin when it was so clear and I got sad. It is okay though, I will make a comeback. I am trying not to worry about it because there is so much worse going on in the world. Breakouts happen, I’ll stop being so dramatic. The Esthetician that I have been learning new information from is Nayamka Roberts-Smith, also known as “LaBeautyologist.” Here is the link to her YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCa9iOE-ab8i9cXkUa7wJqOQ

Only once a week if you want to try an oil cleanser guys!!

My Top 5 Favorite Shows

  1. The show Grownish has become one of my favorites because I can sort of relate to the characters in a way. They are all in college and learning different things about themselves along the way.
  2. Truthfully, I saw the preview of on my block on Netflix awhile back and thought I wouldn’t even like it. When I began to watch it, I fell in love. I love how they speak Spanish in the show here and there. As most of you know, I am Hispanic from my Mom’s side (where all my Puerto Ricans at?!) so I really enjoy how they include a little of their Hispanic culture.
  3. All American is that show that has a lot of never ending drama, but it’s so interesting. There were a lot of things in this show that I did not expect to happen whatsoever. I cannot wait until the next season.
  4. I think I am going to watch all of the seasons of being mary jane again when I can because this is another show that I believe would never get old. They no longer air it though anyway, the last season was season 5. I really wish they would’ve kept going, but it ended so beautifully that I can’t even complain.
  5. Saving the best for last! Grey’s Anatomy has been one of my favorite shows for the longest. Some people think that it’s a little too emotional, but there is so much more to it. It’s a show that will definitely have you crying your eyes out on some episodes and other episodes will have you extremely shocked. I also enjoy watching shows that involve the medical field for some reason!

I highly recommend you check these shows out if you haven’t seen them yet. They are all on Netflix besides Grownish. If you plan on watching Grey’s Anatomy, just giving you a heads up that there are a lot of seasons. Season 16 just ended recently and I believe they will be coming out with another. This show has been around since 2005! If you guys end up watching these shows, I’d love for you to reach out to me and let me know how you liked them! There are many other shows I’ve watched that I enjoy, so I’ll possibly make a part 2. Hope you enjoyed my top 5 shows, what are yours?
